14 November 2017 – Dato’ Shahrul Zaman Yahya, The President of Malaysia Rugby Union (MRU) is in London, England at the moment. He is representing Malaysia to attend the 13th World Rugby General Assembly 2017.

The two days assembly is taking place at the Royal Garden Hotel, London. 5 main issues discussed during the assembly are :

1. Player Welfare
2. Sustaining the growth of Rugby
3. High Performance
4. Women in Rugby
5. Fan Engagement

Dato’ Shahrul Zaman with Agustín Pichot is a retired Argentine rugby union player who is now Vice-Chairman of World Rugby.

All those five certainly related to the current situation on Malaysia Rugby scene. With the overall performances are on the rise, in which include local tournament as well as the national team, there’s tons of input that Dato’ can bring back and share with the rest of rugby community in Malaysia.

World Rugby Chairman Bill Beaumont has opened the 13th World Rugby General Assembly in London, praising the membership for global participation growth and calling on the game to work together to continue to evolve and attract a new generation of players and fans.

Malaysia 15s team who sit 47th in the world ranking could benefit from this assembly as to make sure the progress in the sport is heading in the right direction.
